Oh my gosh people, I saw SNOW today!!

Finally in like 17 years, I saw my first snow. =)) Very very happy. =))

So yup, I started my attachment today and I still didnt know who is my supervisor. Ya, whatever lah.

And it's super boring and I dont know what to blog. I mean, I just sat there and marked their English exam papers. That's all for the entire day. Oh well, see how it goes tmr.

Had lunch with Jinnie's and my homestay kids together with their friends, Vanessa and Dawn. Had a meal less than SGD$2 and I like how we sang 小酒窝 together. =))

Since only Dawn and I returned to the school after lunch, we went back to the staffroom and continued with our marking. I also began to sing random songs and irritate the hell out of Dawn. Hahaha!

That's the beginning of my boring attachment.

Are all the changes I have made worth anything?
Are they even noticed?
Are they turning me into an entirely different person?

Hey people, I am back again.

So continue on with my trip in China. Finally, I am able to go shopping last Wednesday. Our teacher who is in charge of playing host to us gave us a map to show us the exact way of going to the shopping malls. She even showed us which bus to take. But us not being very sure of the direction and the wrong perception that cabbing in China is amazingly cheap, we cabbed down. We decided to head off to this shopping centre, 新天地. It is supposed to be a relatively new shopping centre with a lot of shops catering to teenagers. We went and it was not open yet. Well duh, we reached around 8:45 am in the morning and the mall opened at 10 am. Very very dumb indeed.

It was around 10 degrees Celsius and we were freezing. Then we decided to head to McDonald’s to get some hot drinks and warm breakfast for some of us. I got a cup of hot tea and slack with Dawn till about 10 am. Oh and 1 more thing, the toilet in McDonald’s was surprisingly clean. Yes, it was super clean and I was a happy user. =)) LOL! I felt like it had been very long since I should a proper, clean toilet which did not stink or show me what the previous user left behind, if you know what I mean. To take full advantage of it, I used the toilet twice. Now I know where I can get clean toilets.

We left for the shopping centre at around 10:20 am and I was very proud that I can cross the roads without any screaming. I can cross the roads like the locals here and survive! Yes, I survive! So ya, that was my momentary sense of achievement. Ok back to the main topic, the shopping centre was like Bugis street or Far East. There was a variety of things here and the price was somewhat reasonable? I just felt that at the price they were charging, I can get a better deal in Singapore and better quality too. Then when I am having fun shopping, we were called back to school because the lecturers were going to visit our school and we had to be there. Very spoil mood lor. Nothing much after I got what I want before heading off to Pizza Hut for lunch with Dawn, Vanessa and Jinnie. Finally! Pizza Hut gave a taste of home. The pizzas here were actually more expensive than Singapore's. Take the New Orleans Wings for example. It's RMB24 so it's about SGD$6. I heard that it's cheaper in Singapore. So ya, if it wasnt for the “taste of home”, I will never consider eating there. My spending power is quite tight here people! Not that I am stingy or what.

When we reached back our school, we headed off to the calligraphy room to wait for our teachers’ arrival. The teacher allowed us to play around with the ink and brush there. I tried writing my name with the brush but sucks terribly at it becoz I had no idea how to control the brush. Then the foreign students whom I mentioned earlier came into our classroom as it was their free time. So we chatted a bit and laughed. They were very nice to talk. We crapped with each other until the lecturers came and they went off.

After that was heading to Jinnie's homestay for dinner. Apparently her family owned a restaurant so we could head there for dinner. Coincidentally, my kid (as in the kid in my homestay) was there for dinner too. Met up with the guys and we had dinner together. There were 8 dishes and very nice. The best part was we did not have to pay for the meal. But the guys had to pay for their beers becoz they had 13 bottles. Heard that they knocked out after getting back to their hostel. So I got home, tidied some stuffs and got online to chat with boyfriend. I miss him so much!

So yesterday, we had to go for an excursion trip around Shijiazhuang. Met up with Vanessa before heading to school. As it was very cold, we went into the auditorium to fool around, singing songs. And it was very long before the bus came. Well duh, the guys were knocked out yesterday and it would be very hard to get them up.

We visited like a temple and the place where 红楼梦 was being filmed. I wasnt really paying attention to the guide as I am busy trying to keep myself awake and warm. Neither did most of us, I think. But while we werent listening, there would be this group of locals trying to get into our group. That was becoz they wanted to listen what the guide had to say and explain to them about the things in the place. We gave them the term “free-loaders” and the guys decided to get all of us in front, leaving these free-loaders at the back. We paid like RMB140 after the tour lah. They did not pay anything and want to listen too. Very smart lor. Plus they still had the cheek to elbow us to get front. What the hell! No shame at all. The whole excursion ended around 3 pm plus and then one of the lecturers would be visiting my home.

So Ms Lim visited my homestay family and we stayed there to talk. Vanessa was with us too. Went out for shopping at 新天地 again and to meet up with the guys and girls from 18中. Dinner was at Pizza Hut again and Vanessa and I ordered a lot of food. Headed home after that and cab fare was not cheap at all!

Today was another day out with our kids and us (Dawn, Vanessa, Jinne and me). But before, my kid and I headed over to Vanessa's homestay for breakfast. I GOT TO EAT SINGAPORE FOOD! Thanks to Vanessa who brought maggi mee over. I miss Singapore food even though it was just instant noodles and milo. Next, we went to this wholesale place which sold books and stationery. Vanessa's kid had to get a book and so we went there. I got myself gift for people, cute stationeries and a pink Hello Kitty pouch. Very happy! =)) Next we cabbed down to this place which was freakingly crowded. So we didnt buy anything but had McDonald's for lunch. Yay! "Taste of home" again. =))

Oh, and I took their 公车 for the first time and it shall be the last. The people just elbowed their way through the crowded bus and hit Vanessa quite hard. Dont know what to say leh.

Met up with ah yi and her family for a tour at the lake. It had a nice view there. I had my first try at flying the kite too. =))

I realized that I only ate dinner twice at home and this isnt acceptable to me at all. So I think when attachment starts next week, I will be heading home for dinner everyday. It’s to save money too! I had been cabbing everywhere and it's not cheap already. So I should cut down on going out so often. Plus, we still had an impending trip to Beijing too. I need to save money.

Ok I got to go now. Bye. =)

Ok, before you get the idea that I am not treated well here or could not get used to the life here, I shall clarify things clearly. I am just what most people overseas will feel, homesick. I miss Singapore. I miss the familiar life there. I miss the people.

Never thought that I would be so homesick and it's what? Not even the 10th day. But I really feel very homesick. Maybe when days passed, I will be better. Afterall, I am still able to contact home. I even got a China prepaid card (which was not cheap btw) to call home. It entitled me to free 100 mins of international calls so it should be enough. I will be fine.

My homestay is good over here. The family was nice, too nice as the matter of fact. The mother saw to my needs and even paid attention to minute details like I wasn’t feeling well. That’s right; my body had not really adapted to the climate change. It’s a friggin 20 degrees Celsius here. And that is the maximum temperature. It could be lower. I had this sinus problem since forever and of course, it aggravated since my arrival. Back to the point, yup it was really nice to stay with the family. I got my own room with the convenience of a computer. They also kept on piling my plate with food and more food. I think I will grow fatter. Oh my gosh! No!

42 中 is a pretty big school. They have like the high school and the middle school studying together in the same compound. So naturally, there are lots and lots of students. Oh, and the number of bicycles in the school is huge. Bet you can never see this amount of bicycles anywhere in Singapore, not even the bicycle kiosks in East Coast Park. The teachers are rather friendly. The students will be like looking at us and perhaps making comments amongst themselves? I don’t know. It could be our dressings as we or should I say, I was wrapped up like a dumpling. The classrooms are not as high tech as Singapore but I think it's is still conducive for studying. I have a problem with the toilets though. They stink to high heavens. You can also literally see flies flying around. Yes, that's how bad it is. Plus, they have no doors to their cubicles in the toilets. NO DOORS. So you basically have to finish whatever business you have in the public. I may be quite open minded but going half naked from the bottom and doing whatever business in open is definitely a no-no for me. I wonder how can the students tahan it?

Well, at least I know the other foreign students could not accept it. I attended a class with them. They are from Thailand, Italy, Australia, America? and Japan. And they are learning to speak Mandarin too! I really take my hat off of them. Seriously, I don’t think I will ever dedicate years of time to learn Japanese or French. But they could make simple introduction about themselves in Mandarin and understood the teacher. FYI, the teacher wasnt speaking English when teaching them. Ok, maybe English was used occasionally to explain some terms. The point is they can understand Chinese. Zai lor. The lesson was conducted in a very conventional way. Something like your secondary mother tongue class. So naturally, I erm, slept. Hahaha! =pp

Besides sitting in class to listen to the lesson, we went to get our prepaid card too. And we walked there and it's very very far. I hate it when we had to cross the roads becoz the cars just drove on even though it showed green man. Maybe it's the traffic light problem. And then, they also zai lor. They can even drive onto pedestrian pavement. I have a really good piece of mind to like yell at them but then Vanessa told me that it would be to our disadvantage if we do so. So ya, I diam diam. They love to honk and honk and honk. Well of course, with the traffic that do not really respect the basic road safety regulations, who wont? So I am slightly scared if I am going home on my own. Becoz the house is rather ulu and it’s quite a long walk. But then ya, I will figure it out by myself.

So basically, that is my first few days. Will be blogging more if possible.

Pictures will be up soon if I am not lazy.

Ciao!

Ah...! Shucks! I am leaving for China tomorrow already. How time flies. I dont know what to feel now leh. It's this sense of dread coupled with a feeling of helplessness. Bo bian also. Have to go; if not, I will only cause trouble for myself.

Yup, I am still not looking forward to this trip. Very very not excited or whatsoever. And with this headache I am experiencing now, it is so not helping. Now I am not very sure if I had packed enough for my trip anot. I worried about the lack of clothes to wear and then if I had brought along all or enough necessities. I need a lot of things to get me ready. Serious! I am also not confident of using China's product should I lack of anything. So ya. Aiya! Damn troublesome lah. Why do I have to go to China sia?? Why oh why?? Then I am also damn damn scared of the pickpockets there, people trying to exploit me and maybe people charging me exorbitant prices knowing that I am not local. Then also got the family I am staying with. Till now, I still dont know how to communicate with them. Luckily they have internet connection in their home. At least I log on to the internet. If I can get the idea across to them.

I will be taking China Eastern airline and I am so not impressed by them lah. I mean please lah, even though it is in economy class but they can at least provide a private entertainment unit right? What's with the screening of movies on a screen that's shared with 10 rows of passengers? Oh my gosh and I dont think their seats are comfortable so my intention of sleeping throughout the entire journey may be gone. Food wise, I dont know but they better not serve me anything dubious. I also hope that the air stewardess will not be nasty or give attitude. If they do so, I am going to give them back the exact same face and make life difficult. Dont really like people giving attitude to me when I am in a very very bad mood. =))

Sian sian sian.. I dont want to leave Singapore!! I think I am so so biased. I dont think I will react so violently if I am going to Australia. At least I know I will be safe there. Ok maybe not safe but at least I know I wont have communication problem or difficulties to adapting to life there.

And I will miss Singapore. I will miss the food. Nowadays I am eating quite a variety of local food. Chicken rice, Hokkien mee, Laksa, Nasi Lemak etc. I will also miss a lot of people lah. Family and friends and last but not least, boyfriend. Haiz. Sian lah. 21 days. Cannot say that it's long but neither is it short. Must tahan.

I dont know if I will be blogging tomorrow so I better have this down.

I will be living at this address

赵一街小区1-1-102

And the telephone of the household is

13180442792 or 87775492 (I dont know which one)

I am bringing a prepaid card over so I wont be using my current number. So ya, please dont bother to msg or call me at my number till 15 April =))

I want to get my address here or phone number is because in case anything happens, I can blog "HELP" here and you will know how to help me. Right? You will right? LOL =)) But ya, please dont anyhow go call and disturb hor.

I guess this marks the end of my post for now. If I can log in to blogger while in China, I will definitely blog there.

Till then or 15 April.

Bye~!

I have no mood to blog lately. Blame it on the weather or I am lazy tired out from all the activities to blog.

The weather, I think, contributed to my lazy-ness delay in blogging. It's like raining every single day and it made me very very sleepy and go into a semi conscious state. So I shall be motivated to blog now since I wont be doing it often soon, would I?

I still cant get over my results although it was out for almost a week already. At first, I wasnt that upset about it when I first viewed it. In fact, I was actually very happy that I didnt get supp paper for Marketing. Then as days passed, I got more and more upset. My GPA, which wasnt some thing to boast of in the first place, dropped. I dont know what would constitute to be like a major or slight drop in GPA, a drop of 0.15 is it a lot? And I heard from many people that it's going to drop more for it's always in Year 1 when your GPA is the highest during the 3 years. Oh my gosh, I cannot afford to let it drop. Drop any more will jeopardise my chance of getting into the local U. What to do now? Got to chiong for the next sem already. -.-"

Oh and rmb I wanted to get into DHL? Considering the GPA I have now, I think it's gone already. This makes me even more upset. ='((

DAMN MARKETING !!!

Went out with IGuides on Friday to Teo Heng and I shall let pictures do the talking. =))

I have gotten my PINK camera already. It's the sony S950.

Went to the IT Show on Sat and it was so crowded lah. It's literally people pushing me to move instead of me walking. And Jacqueline was still able to tahan the crowd when I am already down there feeling light headed and going to vomit or faint any moment. So ya, we made to the Sony counter successfully and looked through the cameras there. I wanted to buy the T77 at first but then the PINK version was sold out already. That time my heart went "piang" and broke in millions of pieces. This shows that PINK is a very popular colour and many people love it and we should have more things in PINK. =)) Jacqueline pointed out to me this camera which was in PINK lying around the counter. It wasnt as chio as T77 but it's in the colour that I want and looked quite nice too. Plus, it's still 10 megapixels and quite light. I asked the salesman if still have stock anot becoz I thought of like looking around for other brands. Then he quite smart lah, told me still got stock, but given the crowd, it may be gone soon. So my kiasu sense kicked in and I bought it. No regrets though. The image quality not that bad lah and we camwhored after we got home.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA !!!

Next I want to talk about is my impending trip to China. It's less than 10 days to my 3 weeks attachment there. Cant say that I am overly excited about it or looking forward to it. I even foresee that I will break down and cry in the airport. I am so going to miss everything and everyone in Singapore. 21 days are not very long neither are they very short too. I should learn how to adapt to the living conditions there no matter how much biasness I have towards that country. Just now Mrs Lim called and told me I am one of the 9 students whom will get homestay instead of living in the hostel. This means I will have to live with an actual Chinese family. Oh my gosh! Like how am I going to do it! Instead of living together with my classmates, I now have to learn how to get along with the Chinese. And even better, I have to pay S$200 for the homestay which is like 1000 renminbi. For 3 weeks? Abit bo hua leh. Provided if they give me free internet access 24/7 then I may consider. But then again, I dont want lah. Becoz in homestay, we have to follow their rules and what if they gave me a curfew or what? I already told Mrs Lim I dont want to be accomodated in someone else's home and guess I have to wait for her reply then. I know I sounded like a spoilt brat but I really cannot take it.

I am so clingy around people nowadays. Maybe it's becoz I am leaving soon and I want to be with them as much as possible. But then boyfriend now has work and I doubt we could meet up as often as we did before. Ah sian! Nevermind, I will think of something. I am so going to cling onto everyone. =))

That's my rantings for now.

Hopefully I have got something to blog about soon.

Wednesday, March 4, 2009 @ 2:22 PM

Wah... So many things happened the past few days. I am too lazy to blog about everything lah.

So last Sunday was my family photo taking session and we had to like report to my aunt's house at 9:30 am. It's very sian lor becoz I had to wake up at 8 am and on a Sunday somemore. -.-" And I got a chio pink dress. =)) Ok I am digressing. The photo shoot lasted for about 2 hours and I am very very sian halfway through. Imagine lah, for 2 hours stand there and smile smile. The cheeks will be aching lah.

After that was slacking around the house and I promptly went to sleep as the weather was so nice. Raining leh. But then the thunders were damn loud lah and stunned me. Dinner later at some Teochew restaurant to celebrate my grandpa's 80 birthday. =))

Went to Sentosa on Monday and was joined with Candice and Leeshen. Candice wanted to tan but then the sun wasnt out. Even if it was out, it's only for what, 5 minutes only. Haha! Damn failure lah. Then best of all, when we heading for showers, it rained very heavily and got us all drenched. Haha! We walked around Sentosa while waiting for Jasmine to meet us at Vivo. I want the photos !!

Ohoh, so yesterday Candice and I went swimming in the morning. And this time, it rained heavily again. But we still swam and the feeling quite shiok. =)) Breakfast was the best. Bak Chor mee, "shui kueh" and apple juice. =))

Watched Pink Panther with Louis yesterday and it was very funny like the first one. LOL. The detective ah, always do stupid things one but in the end the hero is always him. And then his face also. It's always comical. =p

Ok I dont know what else to say liao.

Bye..
